Welcome
"WE ARE THE VOICE OF YOUR COMMUNITY"
Royal Burgh of Wick Community Council
Who Are We? |
What is a Community Council? |
We are the Royal Burgh of Wick Community Council (known as RBWCC). Together, we are a group of local people who have a heart for the community of Wick in the far north of Scotland. We stand as community councillors to represent the people of Wick with one simple objective; to help make Wick a better place to live.
|
A Community Council is a voluntary organisation set up by an area's local authority, and in Wick's case- The Highland Council. Community Councils bridge a gap between their communities and local authority and help to make public bodies aware of the opinions and needs of the communities they represent to help make change for the better.
|
We are a constituted group who meet on a regular monthly basis to discuss lots of different matters concerning our town like issues and positive factors which have made a good impact on our area, and we aim to act on these matters which are discussed. We are supported by the Association of Caithness Community Councils (AOCCC) who help to provide support to the twelve Community Councils in Caithness. We are also answerable to our governing body, The Highland Council and must operate within the guidelines set out in our Constitution and the Scheme of Establishment for Community Councils.
