Some of Our Current Projects

Doesn't our riverside area look great? (Photo above). This area is maintained by the Wick Riverside Volunteers group who strive to keep Wick Riverside looking colourful and tidy all year round!

Town Tidy Up

We recently held a big summer spruce up of different areas in Wick. This was led by community councillor, Allan Bruce, and saw around fifty volunteers come along to help make a difference. This project included gaining access to the former SSE Hydro shop to clean the shopfront window, weeding the corner at the old public toilets on Whitechapel Road, and the clean up of the Riverside fountain area. We are working alongside Highland Council to help get their planned ancillary works programme off the ground to help make a positive different to our town centre while we work in conjunction with Sustains to begin the Street Design Regeneration of Wick Town Centre.

Riverside Fountain Refurbishment

RBWCC secured funding from the Beatrice Community Fund to help improve the fountain and surrounding area at Wick Riverside.  With thanks to the local depts. of The Highland Council, Wick Paths Group, and the many local volunteers and businesses who offered their services. Our lovely fountain located at Wick Riverside is now fully functional again!

Some of our members are working alongside the Wick Branch Committee of the Royal British Legion to help to re-launch the renovation project on the memorial tower located at Wick's North Head.

The Businessmen's Corner Project

RBWCC secured funding to turn an old dilapidated corner at Martha Terrace into a friendly, bright corner with a bench. Together in conjunction with The Wick Society, Wick Flower Baskets, The Highland Council and Siemen's this corner is now home to a number of excellent quality photographic panels displaying some wonderful snapshots of our town's history from the famous Johnston Collection along with some new planters with some colourful floral displays.
